Trouble and perplexity drive us to prayer, and prayer
driveth away trouble and perplexity. -Philipp Melancthon
Listening prayer is a way of freeing your mind so that God can speak to you and reveal whatever burdens are keeping you from a full relationship with Him or others. When Fred and I teach our seminars, we have our students write a letter to the Lord. It might go like this:
Dear Lord Jesus,
When I think about the situation I'm in today, this is how I feel about it.
As I look in my background to come up with the reason why I feel this way,
I don't have an answer. I'm awaiting what you want me to know.
After youv'e written some thoughts, sit quietly, pen in hand. Then, write down whatever thoughts come into your mind. Fred and i have been amazed by the way the Lord starts speaking when you open your mind to \him and began to record the thoughts He reveals to you. The students can hardly contain their excitement over having the Lord directly speak to them. Most likely, though, they've never heard Him because they haven't taken the time to listen.
A close friend describes listening prayers as follows: "if I went over to visit florence one afternoon, sat down, and told her everything that had happened to me in the last two weeks, and as soon as I got to the end of my story I said, "Well, thanks for listening. Good-bye." how would Florence feel? She'd think, "Wait , I didn't have a chance to respond." That's the way it is with God. Too often we say, "Lord, here's my problem," and then we shut the door and expect Him to break it down and force us to listen. God doesn't do that. We need to allow Him time to speak.
Listening prayer also helps us bring specific concerns or problems to the Lord, so we can hone in on certain trouble spots, such as guilt. So many times we offer generic prayers to God like, :My marriage is terrible. fix it." What God wants is for us to come to Him with the specifics and say, "Lord, I've spent some time on this. I know that I have a guilt problem. "Why do I have it?" Then listen. Write down what He says. Think about it. Pray about it. Be specific. The Lord will clean up the garbage in our life, but He'll only take away the trash that we put out.
The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you...
- Matthew 13:11

First Stage Of Courtship. In late winter, the male cardinal will pick up bits of food, hop over to it's mate and place it in her bill. This is an endearing event and the first stage of spring courtship. chicadees, nuthatches, titmice, and blue jays do the same thing.

Lose A Little, Gain A Lot!
Well, I would like to share a passion on my heart with all of you! We have been blessed with an outstanding program in our community that really takes the time, interest, concern, passion, energy and HEART to provide our community with relief, aid, funds, education, and other amazing resources for our health. This program is the American Heart Association.
Right now we have the opportunity to join alongside them in raising some money to further enhance and advance their precious effort in fighting heart disease.
They are doing a Heart Walk Sat Oct 2, 2004 at the Wylie Baptist Church. I am volunteering to walk the five miles(I have been released by my doctor!!!) but I need your financial support and specific prayers to raise the needed money.
I would really appreciate any amount you can humbly give! I need to have the money turned in by the 28th of September. I will be more than happy to stop by your office and pick up your contribution. (here in Abilene) I would appreciate a response e-mail or phone call to let me know your decision on supporting my walk.
Well, I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for all that you do to bless others lives! (Matthew 10:42)
May you have a blessed week living in the presence of the Lord!

It's never too late....Get up.... and run!
You never really lose until you quit trying. -Mike Ditka NFL Football Coach
When NFL running back Herschel Walker was in junior high school, he wanted to play football, but the coach told him he was too small. He advised young Herschel to go out for track instead. Undaunted by the lack of encouragement and support, he ignored the coach's advice and began an intensive training program to build himslef up. Only a few years later, herschel walker won the Heisman trophy
If we did all the things we were capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves. -Thomas Edison
Eric Mohn has won numerous awards in local, national and even international art competitions for his water color paintings. Senator John Warner and Senator Robert Byrd of West Virgina are two people who have bought his paintings in recent years. Remarkably, mohn is paralyzed in all four limbs and paints with a brush held in his mouth. Another remarkable fact about his accomplishments is that Mohn never even pursued art as a hobby or career until 1977, 13 years after a car accident left him paralyzed from the chest down.
The human spirit cannot be paralyzed. if you are breathing, you can dream. -Mike Brown
Almost no one at 3M believed that the Post-it notes had a future, but Art Fry kept handing them out to people until they gave the product a chance. Even after the first marketing attempt failed, Art did not give up on the idea. He persisted until the idea became a colossal success.
In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity -Albert Einstein
Colonel Sanders had the construction of a new road put him out of business in 1967. he went to over 1,000 places trying to sell his chicken recipe before he found a buyer interested in his 11 herbs and spices. Sevenyears later, at the age of 75, Colonel Sanders sold his fried chicken company for a finger-lickin' $15 million!
And this is the boldness we have in God's presence: that if we ask God for anything that agrees with what He wants, He hears us. If we know He hears us every time we ask Him, we know we have what we ask from Him. 1 John 5:14,15
I hope you have a blessed week living in the presence of the Lord!
